Michael Chacón is the Technical Reviewer/Quality Assurance Manager for the Pueblo de San Ildefonso, a small Indian Tribe which borders Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) near Santa Fe, New Mexico. Since 2003, Michael has drafted sampling plans for various media, drafted all quality assurance documents, and acted as technical advisor to field staff, as well as reviewing and commenting on all incoming NEPA documents for the Pueblo de San Ildefonso. For the eight years prior to his current position, he was a regulator with the New Mexico Environment Department, with responsibility for RCRA Permitting and Corrective Action at LANL. Michael also has environmental laboratory experience with both radionuclides and water quality analyses from his work at Controls for Environmental Pollution in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He has been active in the ITRC since 1995 serving as New Mexico's ITRC Point of Contact and as a member of the ITRC Radionuclides, Stakeholders, and Bioremediation teams. Michael earned a bachelor's degree in geology from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1989.
