Bernie SchorleBernie Schorle has been a remedial project manager in the Superfund program in Region 5 (Chicago) of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency since 1986. During that time, he has been the project manager for a number of National Priority List sites, many of which were former landfills; one site was an operating landfill. Prior to joining U.S. EPA, Bernie was an internal consultant on process design projects for an engineering, procurement and construction company. He is the newsletter editor for the National Association of Remedial Project Managers, a U.S. EPA organization, and a member of the Engineering Forum, one part of the U.S. EPA Technical Support Project. Since 2002, he has worked with the ITRC Alternative Landfill Technologies team, primarily as an interested party. Bernie earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana in 1957, and a master's degree in 1960 and a doctoral degree in 1972, both in chemical engineering, from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois.
