Sonja B. Favors is a Sr. Environmental Engineering Specialist with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) located in Montgomery, Alabama. In 1996, Sonja was hired as a regulator within the ADEM Land Division Hazardous Waste Branch. She oversees the regulatory activities of industrial facilities throughout the State of Alabama.  In addition, she serves as a contaminated sediments and combustion specialist for the branch.  Sonja has been a member of the ITRC Contaminated Sediments Team since 2009.  Before joining the ITRC team, Sonja worked with other sediment focused groups to develop support tools for sediment sites.  Sonja earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry from Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama in 1996 and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Auburn University Montgomery in Montgomery, Alabama in 2001.
