Lisa Alvarez-Cohen Ph.D., is the Fred and Claire Sauer Professor of Environmental Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. She has a B.A. in Engineering and Applied Science from Harvard University, an M.S. and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering and Science from Stanford University, and completed a Postdoc in Environmental Engineering and Science from the University of California, Berkeley. She is the Principal Investigator for the Metabolic Interactions Supporting Effective TCE Bioremediation under Various Biogeochemical Conditions NIEHS R01 grant. Alvarez-Cohen's lab takes a systems-based approach to understand communities as holistic units of interacting species, capable of performing environmentally relevant reactions.
