Dr. Mark L. Brusseau is a professor in the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Arizona, with joint appointments in the Soil, Water and Environmental Science Department and the Hydrology and Water Resources Department.
Dr. Brusseau's research is focused on developing a fundamental understanding of the factors and processes influencing the transport and fate of contaminants in the subsurface. He is also interested in the development and evaluation of innovative subsurface remediation and characterization technologies, and the evaluation of risks posed to human health by contamination. His research integrates mechanistic, laboratory-based experimentation, site-specific field-based investigation, and the development and application of mathematical modeling. Dr. Brusseau has led several characterization and remediation demonstration projects at local, state, and federal hazardous-waste sites. In addition, Dr. Brusseau is actively involved in research translation activities, and is Director of the Research Translation Core for the University of Arizona Superfund Research Program.
