Mark CantwellDr. Mark Cantwell received a B.A. in Environmental Science-Chemistry from the State University of New York, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Oceanography from the University of Rhode Island. His research efforts at EPA primarily focus on contributions to better understand the bioavailability of contaminants, primarily in sediments and sediment interstitial waters. He has contributed to EPA's Superfund research effort to better understand the risk associated with contaminated sediments at Superfund sites. This has involved working for many years with OSRTI staff to present research findings and to advance our understanding of the effects of metals and organic contaminants in aquatic systems. He has been awarded two bronze medals for contributing to a guidance document and reports with the Sediment TIE Writing Group and the Passive Sampling of SAMS Guidance Document Team.
