Dr. Donatuto works as an Environmental Specialist for the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community, located in La Conner, Washington. Among a host of environmental health-related duties, she authors and enacts investigations on behalf of the Tribe, including the EPA STAR grant "Bioaccumulative Toxics in Native American Shellfish" (2002-2006). She launched the Swinomish Environmental Education Program, and works extensively with community education and outreach projects. Current research foci include creating a Puget Sound area tribal health framework for determining the risks and impacts from the degradation of traditional foods, and tribal health-related impacts from climate change. Dr. Donatuto recently completed her doctoral studies at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, in the interdisciplinary graduate program of Resource Management and Environmental Studies.
