Kevin L. Dreher earned a B.S. in Chemistry at Villanova University in 1974. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry from the Pennsylvania State University in 1977 and 1980, respectively. Dr. Dreher is a principal investigator at the National Health and Environmental Effects Research Laboratory (NHEERL) of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) and an adjunct professor at the North Carolina State University. He is currently the scientific lead for NHEERL nanotechnology/nanomaterials health effects intramural research. Dr. Dreher is a co-author of the US EPA Nanotechnology White Paper as well as contributor to the NSET, NEHI Nanomaterials Research Needs and priority documents. Dr. Dreher has published over 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals, is a past Councilor for the Inhalation Specialty Section of the Society of Toxicology, and has received Level II and III Science and Technological Achievements Awards as well as US EPA, Office of Research and Development Gold and Bronze Medals for his research in the areas of pulmonary and cardiovascular toxicology, and susceptibility response modifiers associated with exposure to ultrafine/fine particles derived from combustion sources.
