Dr. Barbara Butler is a Research Physical Scientist in the Land Remediation and Pollution Control Division of the EPA’s Office of Research and Development’s National Risk Management Research Laboratory. Barb’s research focuses on the fate, transport, and remediation of inorganic contaminants in water and sediments, especially those resulting from mine-drainage. She also provides technical assistance to several EPA Regions on mining issues and is involved in researching how different Green Infrastructure practices influence water quality. Barb obtained her Ph.D. in Environmental Science & Engineering in 2005 from the Colorado School of Mines. She also holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science & Engineering from CSM and a Bachelor’s in Chemistry from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs.
