Mr. Coats has over 30 years of experience in the environmental sciences field, particularly environmental analytical chemistry and associated quality systems. Currently, he serves as the Chief of the Environmental Sciences Division of the USACE Environmental and Munitions Center of Expertise, and manages a team of chemists, risk assessors, health physicists, and industrial hygienist, as well as Program Support staff for EPA SF and FUSRAP. He functions as the Chemical Data Quality Program Manager for the USACE Hazardous, Toxic, and Radioactive Waste programs, and is currently appointed as the Army Principal Representative on the DoD Environmental Data Quality Workgroup. Previously he was the Chief chemist for the USACE Omaha District Environmental cleanup programs Branch, working all EPA Superfund, Army IRP, and FUDS programs and projects; and prior to that was Chief of the Inorganic Analysis section of a large commercial agricultural/environmental laboratory. Mr. Coats has a B.S. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Indiana.
