Michael A. Dobbins Michael A. Dobbins is presently a part-time professor of practice in architecture and city and regional planning programs at the College of Architecture at Georgia Tech University. He also supports the Center for Quality Growth and Regional Development at Georgia Tech. He has held several positions in local government throughout his career, including Commissioner of the Department of Planning, Development and Neighborhood Conservation for the City of Atlanta, for which he still consults. He received Bachelor and Master of Architecture Degrees from Yale and is a Licensed Architect in Georgia and California. Mr. Dobbins is also a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, and is a member of several organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Planners, the American Planning Association, the Urban Land Institute, the Congress of New Urbanism and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. Mr. Dobbins has held planning director positions at UC Berkeley, Birmingham, Alabama, New York City Planning Department (Staten Island), New Orleans Comprehensive River Area Study and has taught at UC Berkeley, Birmingham Southern College, Tulane School of Architecture and Columbia University.
