Barbara HarperDr. Barbara Harper is a risk assessor and board-certified toxicologist with 30 years of experience. She received her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin. In her present position, Dr. Harper is a toxicologist in the Department of Science and Engineering at the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. She is a Co-Investigator with OSU's Community Engagement Core in the Superfund Research Center. She is responsible for coordinating the Hanford nuclear project work (DOE funding), such as risk assessment review and performance, nuclear waste analysis and disposal plans, regulatory review, and natural resource damage assessment. She was the PI on an EPA STAR grant that supported the development of the tribal environmental exposure scenarios, and works with a number of tribes on environmental contaminant issues. This work is evolving into native natural resources (NRDA) and climate change. She also coordinates several other research projects in collaboration with Oregon State University and Eastern Oregon University related to environmental health and tribal rights and resources.
