Victor S. Magar Dr. Magar is a Senior Project Manager at ENVIRON with 15 years of engineering experience focused on sediment management; hazardous waste remediation; contaminant fate and transport; contaminant transformation; and technology evaluation, testing, and selection. As a Sediment Management Practice leader, he serves as a lead Civil/Environmental Engineer for sediment restoration projects at ENVIRON. Experience includes monitored natural recovery, and characterization of the fate, transport, and management of persistent, bioaccumulative organic pollutants including polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), dioxins, and pesticides. Dr. Magar has managed several multi-year, multi-million dollar projects, including a four year MNR study at the Lake Hartwell Superfund site (South Carolina) for the USEPA, and a study of sediment resuspension during capping for USEPA and USACE. Currently, he is the lead engineer for a Remedial Alternatives Analysis for chromium-impacted sediments (New Jersey) on behalf of Honeywell International, Inc., and lead author of an MNR technical resource document for USEPA and DoD.

Dr. Magar has served as an independent peer reviewer on behalf of USEPA, US Navy, Department of Energy (DoE), and private industry, including the Hudson River peer-review panel to evaluate USEPA’s proposed dredging performance standards. He has chaired two international remediation conferences, and currently serves on the editorial board of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Journal of Environmental Engineering. He has published extensively in the scientific literature on PCBs, PAHs, sediment contamination, and monitored natural recovery in such publications as Environmental Science & Technology, J. Environmental Engineering, J. Environmental Forensics, and Integrated Environmental Assessment and management.
