This notice is a sources sought for market research purposes only to identify interested vendors for a potential requirement by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) regarding the characterization, packaging, transportation, processing, and disposal of low-level radioactive waste. The low-level waste is in USGS storage facilities at Denver, CO, Menlo Park, CA, and Reston, VA. The requirement is for the routine characterization, packaging, transportation, processing, and disposal of low-level radioactive waste. All low-level radioactive waste will be submitted for removal on an "as needed" basis. Disposal must be carried out under requirements for regulated radioactive waste. USGS is interested in creating a 4-year multi-year blanket purchase agreement (BPA) to remove and dispose of the Low-Level Radioactive Waste over the next 4 years. USGS is searching for vendors who can provide pricing on a "as needed" basis based on the following very rough estimate of how much waste has accumulated over the last few decades. Denver: eight 55-gallon drums - 1800 lbs; Menlo Park: four 55-gallon drums - 1000 lbs; and Reston: five 55-gallon drums - 1250 lbs (Estimated total weights of waste do not include weight of drums). The contractor shall provide brokerage of low-level radioactive waste from the USGS Facilities; provide and/or arrange all subsequent packaging, transportation, processing, and disposal services; and ensure waste burial shall be performed at an approved disposal site.
