Norman Terry

Norman Terry has a B.Sc. in Botany from Southampton University and a M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Environmental Plant Physiology from the University of Nottingham, UK. He has been Professor of Plant Biology at the University of California at Berkeley for the past 20 years. Prof. Terry is currently working on the phytoremediation of trace element contaminated soil and water. He is especially concerned with the cleanup of the potentially toxic elements, selenium, chromium, cadmium, arsenic, mercury and lead. His research approach is multidisciplinary and his laboratory conducts research in ecology, plant physiology and biochemistry, microbiology, and molecular biology (including the genetic engineering of plants for enhanced phytoremediation). He is a coeditor of the book "Phytoremediation of Contaminated Soil and Water", published by Lewis publishers, New York, and has authored over 200 research publications. Prof. Terry teaches two courses at the upper division undergraduate and graduate level (Physiology and Biochemistry of Plants and Environmental Plant Biology).
