Ed Kavazanjian, Jr.

Ed Kavazanjian is a Consulting Geotechnical Engineer from Huntington Beach, California. He has Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from M.I.T. and a Ph.D. from U.C. Berkeley, all in Civil Engineering. Since 1992, he has been extensively involved in analysis, design, and construction of waste containment systems, including liners and final covers, in southern California and other western states. His professional experience includes design of both monolithic soil and capillary break evapotranspirative soil covers, including unsaturated flow modeling, and field monitoring of monolithic soil and capillary break covers using Time Domain Reflectometry and Neutron soil moisture probes. He is currently technical director for the California Integrated Waste Management Board — sponsored municipal solid waste landfill performance study, including evaluation of advanced technologies for waste containment systems, being conducted by GeoSyntec Consultants.
