Paul Bardos

Paul Bardos is the managing director of r3 Environmental Technology Ltd. r3 offers a range of research, management and consultancy services in contaminated land and waste management. He is special Professor in Environmental Engineering at the University of Nottingham where he helped initiate and develop their MSc in Contaminated Land Management. He is also a visiting professor at the University of Reading at the School of Biological Sciences focusing on contaminated land and waste management. In 1987 he was awarded a PhD from the University of Reading (Soil Science Department), after a BSc in Biology (1983) from the University of Southampton. He worked at the Warren Spring Laboratory from 1987 to 1993, and 1994 to 1996 at the Nottingham Trent University. In 1997 he established r3. He has worked in composting, contaminated land and waste management R&D since 1983. He was one of the UK scientific representatives to CLARINET (The Contaminated Land Rehabilitation Network for Environmental Technologies in Europe), a NATO/CCMS Fellow, a member of the Chartered Institution of Waste Management (CIWM), the Society for General Microbiology and the British Society for Soil Science. He is also a member of NICOLE and the EUGRIS teams (www.eugris.info and www.nicole.org), where his tasks include developing information management systems, in particular web-linked databases.
