Daniel Patulski

CAREER AT U.S.EPA: I began working at USEPA in January 1984 in the PCB program. During the three years there, my job entailed conducting PCB inspections at sites throughout the region and development and administration of enforcement actions associated with non-compliance issues at those sites. Those actions included the development and issuance of approximately 60 administrative complaints against facilities for PCB violations.

From 1987 to the present, I have been in the RCRA program. During those 16 years, I have worked within the permitting program, involved with the issuance of RCRA permits and, since 1990, been associated with the corrective action aspects of that program. As corrective action project manager, I have been associated with hazardous waste characterization and remediation at a wide variety of sites within Region 5. Other areas of involvement have included Brownfields, development of Institutional Control regional guidance, and regional representative for development of regulations on wood preserving, associated guidance document and training film.

CAREER OUTSIDE EPA: Prior to EPA, I worked as an environmental scientist for several environmental consulting companies over a period of 13 years. During that time, I participated in a wide range of environmental assessment studies as sites throughout the United States.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: I obtained a B.S. degree in Biology in 1968 and a M.S. degree in Aquatic Biology in 1971, both from Central Michigan University.
