Description

This U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) call center is a publicly accessible service that provides up-to-date information on several EPA programs. The call center responds to factual questions on federal EPA regulations related to the following programs areas:
  • The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), which includes the Underground Storage Tank (UST) program
  • The Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA or Superfund)
  • The Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA)
  • The Oil Pollution Act (OPA) and the Spill Prevention, Control, & Countermeasures (SPCC) regulations
  • Section 112(r) of the Clean Air Act (Accidental Release Prevention Program, or the Risk Management Program (RMP))
Anyone can call the call center which maintains up-to-date information on the availability and distribution of publications and other resources pertaining to the above program areas. The call center also maintains a Fax-on-Demand Service and an electronic list server (see the next resource entry)

Description

EPA maintains several free electronic mailing lists of interest to Hotline customers, including lists for RCRA, CERCLA, and EPCRA Federal Registers, EPA press releases, and a Hotline mailing list. Subscribers to the lists receive e-mailed copies of Federal Registers, press releases, or Hotline updates and monthly reports as they are released. Archives of the Federal Registers and press releases are maintained on the EPA World Wide Web server.

Description

Developers of technologies for treating polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) should be aware that these technologies are subject to separate regulation by EPA's Office of Toxic Substances (40 CFR 761).

Sponsored by the Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics, the Toxic Assistance Information Service (TAIS) provides technical assistance and information about programs implemented under TSCA, the Asbestos School Hazard Abatement Act (ASHAA), the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), the Asbestos School Hazard Abatement Reauthorization Act (ASHARA), the Residential Lead-Based Paint Hazard Reduction Act (Title X of TSCA), and EPA's 33/50 program. The TAIS provides copies of TSCA information, such as Federal Register notices and support documents, to requestors through its Clearinghouse function.

Description

The ITRC is state led, with 43 member states, plus the District of Columbia. It's funded by the DOE, DOD, and EPA, affiliated with the Western Governors' Association , the Environmental Research Institute of the States, the Environmental Council of the States and the Southern States Energy Board. Benefits offered to developers, vendors and users include: building a knowledge base, raising confidence in new technologies, and helping to save time and money in the evaluation of technologies. Technical Teams develop guidance documents in various technology areas which are then also used as a basis for classroom and internet-based training. The ITRC holds bi-annual conferences and sends out quarterly updates.
