Additional Resources

Federal Remediation Technologies Roundtable

The FRTR member agencies support technology development and demonstration partnerships with private developers, a more consistent and unified federal approach to technology evaluation and regulatory acceptance, and a variety of technology transfer tools and other information resources. Numerous documents and case studies of innovative remediation technologies are available through this website.

Improved Understanding of In Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO)

The use of in situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) has dramatically increased at Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Energy (DOE), and defense contractor sites as responsible parties attempt to aggressively destroy chlorinated solvent and dense non-aqueous phase liquid (DNAPL) source areas with the goal of reducing the duration and cost of site remediation. The objectives of this project are: (1) develop a comprehensive perspective on the kinetics of oxidation of common groundwater contaminants by the most commonly used oxidants (permanganate [MnO4-] and Fenton’s reagent [H2O2/Fe2+]); (2) evaluate the effect of the aquifer matrix on oxidant mobility and stability using standardized oxidant demand measurement protocols; and (3) identify significant secondary impacts of ISCO on groundwater geochemistry and microbial activity at the field-scale.

ESTCP, Project ER-0623, 74 pp, 2008

The Colorado School of Mines convened a 2-day workshop (March 7-8, 2007) on ISCO technology practices to provide a forum for 43 invited participants to share insights and perspectives gained regarding the application of ISCO for remediation of contaminated sites. This proceedings document summarizes the activities and outcomes of the workshop.

State Coalition for Remediation of Drycleaners

The Coalition provides a forum for the exchange of information and the discussion of implementation issues related to established state drycleaner programs; shares information and lessons learned with states without drycleaner-specific programs; and encourages the use of innovative technologies in drycleaner remediation. Remediation case studies are compiled in a site profile database.

Superfund Remedy Report, 17th Edition
EPA 542-R-23-001, 2020

EPA prepares the Superfund Remedy Report to provide information and analyses on remedies EPA selected to address contamination at Superfund National Priorities List and Superfund Alternative Approach sites. This report is the latest in a series, prepared since 1991, on Superfund remedy selection. The latest edition focuses on the analysis of Superfund remedial actions selected in fiscal years 2018, 2019, and 2020.

The data that forms the basis of the analyses contained in SRR 17th Edition can be found at Superfund Data and Reports by downloading Contaminant of Concern Data for Decision Documents by Media and Remedy Component Data for Decision Documents by Media.

Technology Innovation News Survey

The Technology Innovation News Survey contains market/commercialization information; reports on demonstrations, feasibility studies and research; and other news relevant to the hazardous waste community interested in technology development. This report is updated every two weeks.
