Technical Support ProjectGo to SeminarOverview:

This workshop, sponsored by the Federal Facility Forum of the U.S. EPA’s Technical Support Project, is designed to disseminate current perchlorate information to state and federal project managers and technical staff, environmental consultants, site owners, and community stakeholders. Perchlorate is both a naturally occurring and man-made chemical. Most of the perchlorate manufactured in the United States is used as the primary ingredient of solid rocket propellant. Waste from the manufacture and improper disposal of perchlorate-containing chemicals are increasingly being discovered in soil and water. This workshop will cover the following topics: the nature of perchlorate (general background information), the national occurrence of perchlorate, perchlorate toxicity assessment (human health), perchlorate in the environment—ecological considerations, perchlorate treatment technologies, perchlorate analytical detection methods, and the current regulatory aspect of perchlorate. The information presented in this internet-based workshop is provided for information only and does not represent EPA policy.
