Description
Historical activity that resulted in contamination.

The site was investigated and remediated in 2001 through the Kansas Drycleaner Evironmental Response Act. The building is currently a coin operated laudromat. Drycleaning operations ceased in 1992.

Technologies

In Situ Soil Vapor Extraction
 

Why the technology was selected:
SVE was selected based on cost and efficiency.

Date implemented:
SVE well installation in September 2001. System start-up April, 2002.

Final remediation design:
Three vertical SVE wells to 15 ft bgs with 9ft of screen. SVE blower with a design capacity of 90 cfm at 3 in of H20 vacuum.

Results to date:
System was shut down and removed in September 2003 after groundwater concentrations were non-detect for three consecutive sampling events. Post-remediation sampling events have shown no rebound of PCE concentrations and the site has been closed.

Next Steps:
Site is closed.
