State Coalition for Remediation of Drycleaners Site Profiles
Former Aunt Bea's Cleaners (D-19-207), Nashville, Tennessee
Description
|
Abandoned drycleaning facility that is located in a commercial/residential area of Nashville. This facility operated from 1954 to 1998 and used PCE drycleaning solvent. The facility was demolished in 1999 and is now the parking lot for a bank. No records of any spills or releases remained from the drycleaning operation. The facility used transfer drycleaning machines in it's early years of operation which were filled by transfering PCE from a 55-gallon drum by bucket and pouring it into the machines. It was reported by a former employee that waste/sludge from these machines was routinely dumped onto the ground at the rear of the former facility. There are no private drinking water wells or municipal water intakes in the area of concern. No previous remedial activities have been performed at this site. Remediation Status: In active remediation |
