The redevelopment of brownfields and the revitalization of neighborhoods can require substantial funding. EPA will host a national webcast to present and explain how EPA brownfield grantees and local community leaders can use the "resource roadmapping" approach to match project costs and needs with sources of funding and finance, and to implement practical strategies for securing grants, low-cost funding, incentives, and innovative finance sources for brownfields and community revitalization. The webcast will outline how to use a Resource Roadmap, a Funding Matrix, and a Briefing Sheet to improve your effectiveness in leveraging resources, and will feature experts in project funding along with a municipal manager who has used the resource roadmap approach to leverage tens of millions of dollars of funding in two different communities, one in Pennsylvania and one in Colorado.

Matt Ward is a co-founder and CEO of Sustainable Strategies DC and a leader with 25+ years experience in community revitalization, economic and infrastructure development, sustainability and green economy projects, federal and state government affairs, and resource strategies and advocacy. He is also the owner of the Ward Washington Law Firm, providing local government and environmental counsel and problem-solving. He is a co-founder of the National Brownfields Coalition and the Brownfield Communities Network, and has served as national policy director to a number of organizations including the National Association of Local Government Environmental Professionals, the National Association of Towns and Townships, the Manufacturing Alliance of Communities, the Mayors Automotive Coalition, and the American Waterfront Revitalization Coalition.

Elyse Sutkus works in U.S. EPA's Office of Brownfields and Land Revitalization (OBLR). Her work helps communities pursue a range of land revitalization activities that support local efforts to sustainably reuse contaminated properties. In addition, Elyse administers OBLR's contracts, collaborates with the National Park Service, and leads OBLR's efforts to support equitable development and environmental justice approaches. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Stonehill College and is currently pursuing her Master of Public Administration at American University in Washington, D.C.
