NEW IN SITU REMEDIATION PROCESSRocky Mountain Oilfield Testing Center Project Update, Winter 2002
Petroleum Environmental Technologies, LLC (PET), was in Casper, WY,
for a two-week demonstration of a process that eliminates environmental
damage related to oil development. PET has developed a product that can
degrade oil in a sludge pit. The technology works on any organic
compound, including hydrocarbons, pesticides, and hazardous materials,
such as dioxin. PET was testing its Envirosafe(TM) product in the
cleanup of an oil sludge pit at the Naval Petroleum Reserve near Teapot
Dome. Working with the Rocky Mountain Oilfield Test Center, PET injected
EcoSafe(TM) into the pit with air and water. The initial test worked
well. The product will be tested further under different conditions.
Envirosafe(TM) provides in situ treatment of contaminated soils and also
works on oil spills on a river or in the ocean. The technology could
save the oil industry large amounts of money and provide water for
irrigation, livestock, or wildlife, as well as aid in remediating waste
sites affected by hydrocarbons. Contact: Fernando de Torres, (307) 266-
