St. Juliens Creek Annex (SJCA) began operations as a naval facility in 1849. Of 59 potentially contaminated areas identified since the SJCA was listed on the NPL in 2000, 56 of the areas have been determined to require no further action. Only three installation restoration sites are currently active in the restoration program. The award recognizes the SJCA for its accelerated environmental cleanup accomplishments and positive community relationships.
