Several recent case studies from Western Canada are discussed to demonstrate the types of sites and issues that can benefit from an anaerobic bioremediation approach. Case studies cover permeable reactive barriers installed to protect receptors and full site remediation. Although the cleanup timelines are generally longer than other alternatives, the approach can be very sustainable and cost-effective.
