Green Remediation Focus

Technical Assistance

EPA's Office of Land and Emergency Management offers technical assistance as a means for finding new opportunities for reducing the environmental footprint of remedies by advancing acceptance and implementation of green remediation BMPs. Site managers and other stakeholders may directly submit a general inquiry about green remediation strategies. Site-specific technical assistance also is available to Federal Superfund remedial project managers (RPMs).

General Inquiries

Examples of Areas of General Interest:

  • Using renewable energy from solar, wind, and hydro sources to power energy-intensive treatment
  • Developing waste-to-energy systems that enhance pollution prevention
  • Coupling sustainable reuse with remediation designs, construction, and implementation
  • Implementing and documenting other green remediation strategies to conserve water and other natural resources and foster environmental stewardship

  • Providing information about high-performance field techniques and technologies for site assessment and cleanup
  • Evaluating renewable energy potential, technologies, financing, and partnerships
  • Assessing potential applications and designs for waste-to-energy systems
  • Identifying ways to integrate site reuse into remediation strategies
  • Renewing and providing comments on project documents, such as requests for proposals, work plans, field sampling plans, and quality assurance plans
  • Facilitating the consideration and use of green remediation
  • Sharing technical information with non-technical audiences
